A Barnett man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 54 Monday night in Miller County.

James D. Cox, 62, was flown by the Staff for Life helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Cox was driving a GMC Jimmy eastbound on Highway 54 at Route V around 9:24 p.m. July 11 when the vehicle crossed the center of the roadway and collided with a van that was also eastbound on Highway 54. The GMC and the Chrystler Town and Country van went off the left side of the roadway into the median. The GMC overturned several times.

The driver of the van - Riyad S. Mallah, 56, of Hazelwood - was not injured.

The crash report indicated both men were wearing seat belts.
