The 2016 Bank of Urbana “Good Citizen” Scholarship recipient for Macks Creek High School is Matthew R. Hicks.  Matthew is the son of Willie and Misty Hicks of Macks Creek.
Matthew has been captain of his basketball and baseball teams and President of Student Council.   He was active in Future Farmers of America; Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Track.  Matthew earned All District Honors and All State Honors in both sports.
Matthew has given back to his community by volunteering at Helping Hands Community Service Projects, Youth Programs at Macks Creek First Baptist Church, and Young Life Youth Program.  He volunteered at Youth Basketball League events and worked dugouts.  His basketball team worked many community service projects to raise over $15,000 for a cancer stricken family.
“The Bank of Urbana awards the “Good Citizen” Scholarship to graduates of Macks Creek, Buffalo, Skyline, Hermitage, and Wheatland high schools,” said Bank of Urbana President Bill Vaughan.  “Scholarships are offered to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership through community service and extra curricular school activities.”
