Severe storms sweep through Morgan County March 27.

A severe storm hit two parts of Morgan County early Thursday evening with tornado warnings issued briefly for the Gravois Mills and Rocky Mount areas in the south central part of the county and another tornado warning due to a different cell issued for the Syracuse area - both around 5 p.m.
Dime, nickel and even quarter size hail was reported through Morgan County 911 and Emergency Management at different points along the trajectory of the storm between Stover and Laurie.

There were no reports of a tornado touching down in Morgan County. The warnings were cancelled around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, but a tornado watch continued until late in the evening for a line of storms that came through the area around 7.
The wider line of severe storms that swept across the region from the west 7 and 8 p.m. also dropped hail in Morgan County, with a hail storm reported south of Versailles.
A lightning strike sparked a residential structure fire on Idyll Acres off of Route O east of Laurie, but it was quickly extinguished by firefighters with the Gravois Fire Protection District with damage limited mainly to a deck.
