The 2013 Chocolate for Charity was a great success. Hundreds of chocolate lovers attended the event held at the Community Christian Church on April 27. More than 25 vendors offered samples of their chocolate confections and competed in either the amateur or professional division.

The 2013 Chocolate for Charity was a great success. Hundreds of chocolate lovers attended the event held at the Community Christian Church on April 27. More than 25 vendors offered samples of their chocolate confections and competed in either the amateur or professional division.

After the tasting, attendees participated in a live auction sponsored by Rick Bryant of Bryant Auction and the event was emceed by KB of KRMS Radio.

Cliff Colters’ entry of Mom’s Peanut Butter Balls took the coveted “People’s Choice” award for the evening. In the amateur division judges awarded Phelan Huntsman, a Lake Career and Technical College student, first place with the Best Chocolate Fix for her entry of Chocolate Brandy Carmel Bon Bons. Jackie Rasmussen placed second as the entry that was most “Loco for Cocoa” with her entry of chocolate covered Oreo balls. Third place and best creative use of ingredients went to Haley Riley, a Lake Career and Technical College student for her entry of raspberry fudge.

In the professional division, first place went to Marlena Moulder with Custom Confections for her entry of Red Velvet Cake balls. Second place and the “Loco for Cocoa” award went to Kevin at Cannon Smoke Saloon for their crowd favorite Chocolate Cherry Cobbler. The third place award went to Angela’s Catering for her Home Made Dark Chocolate Toffee Bars.

A combination of advanced ticket sales and the live and silent auction raised money for the Sharing and Caring Foundation of Camden County. Funds collected will be distributed to non-profit groups around the area. One hundred percent of all money raised by Sharing and Caring is given back to the community.
