Loved her pets and spending time with family

Judy Marie (Hawken) de Kanter, age 62, of Tuscumbia, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at her home. She was born in Tuscumbia on October 8, 1950, a daughter of the late Jack and Margaret (Holtmeyer) Hawken.

Judy loved her many pets, enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time with family.

Those who survive her include: her daughter, Katherine Gigrich and husband Scott of Eldon; former husband, Hans de Kanter of the Netherlands, four grandchildren, Breanna Brinkman, Jesse Gigrich, Olivia Gigrich and Matthew Distler; two brothers, Larry Hawken of Las Vegas, Nevada and William Hawken and friend Ellen Byrd of Tuscumbia; two nieces, Maggie McCulley of Mexico, Missouri and Samantha Rhodes of Arkansas and one nephew, John Hawken of Tuscumbia.

Her brother, John Hawken, step-father, Carl Hawken and in-laws, Marinus and Peggy de Kanter, also preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, at Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Pastor Tony Corado will officiate.
