Volunteered in her community

Mary Jo Shelton, age 81, of Brumley, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at her home.  She was born in Brumley on August 16, 1930, daughter of the late, Sylvester and Celia (Duncan) Reinhart.  On March 30, 1956, in Brumley, Mary Jo married Glen Ivan Shelton, who preceded her in death on January 21, 2012.  

Mary Jo and her late husband Glen owned and operated Brumley Mercantile for 32 years.  She was very active in the Brumley community volunteering for the 3B Club, Brumley Fireflies, and many community events.  Mary Jo was a member of the Brumley Baptist Church for 56 years and also served as the church secretary.

She is survived by one son, Kevin Shelton and wife Shannon of Lake Ozark; one daughter, Helen Cato and husband Bobby of Brumley; three grandchildren, Darrick Cato of Brumley, Kristen Cato of Branson, and Whitney Shelton of Osage Beach; and one sister, Louevenia Davenport of Iberia.

Mary Jo was also preceded in death by one brother, Artie Reinhart and seven sisters, Zilphia Luttrell, Clara Luttrell, Lorraine Swofford, Winifred Luttrell, Artis Reinhart, Alena Reinhart, , and Christina Reinhart.

Service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.  Bro. Warren Mitchell will officiate.  Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery near Brumley. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, at the funeral home.
