The Charlie Daniels Band will appear at Lake of the Ozarks Amphitheater Memorial Day weekend in a Salute to the Soldiers performance scheduled for the holiday weekend. Tickets are free to all active duty and reserve military with identification.

The concert is being billed as the opening event for the summer season. Management and bookings at the amphitheater have been taken over by LiveCo, a collective concert and facility management group that has signed a three year exclusive contract with the owners of the venue. The contract enables LiveCo to produce national level events as well as bring in other promoters, according to Jason Hyken, spokesman for the entertainment company.

Opening for the concert will be Whitey Morgan and Candy Coburn.

Tickets are avaliable at Ticketmaster.com.

The venue has seating for 15,500,  77 acres and parking for 7,000 cars.

Lake of the Ozarks Amphitheater, formerly known as Stoneridge, has bounced back and forth over the years with owners and management companies interested in turning it into a major attraction for the lake area. Built in the early 1990s, the original developers ran into financial problems and left the area, leaving behind contractors, vendors and subcontractors being owed millions of dollars.

In 2010, Christian Crossover Music Festival held a concert series at the venue. Blues Traveler also made an appearance.
