24-year field supervisor of state DESE; U.S. Army veteran
Gary Edward Schneider, 74, of Osage Beach, Mo., formally of Maryville, Mo., departed this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in an automobile accident.
Gary was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Lansing, Kan., the son of Peter W. and Anna M. (Kolb) Schneider.
Gary graduated from Lansing High School in 1954 and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1960 with a B.S. in chemistry and was member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He owned and operated the Lil’ Duffer, in Maryville, Mo., and was a gunsmith. He was currently working as a field supervisor for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for 24 years.
Gary served in the Army and was a member of the Elks, Maryville Jaycees and served on the Maryville School Board.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Norma (Welch) Schneider, of the home; one son, Craig Schneider and wife, Christy, of Osage Beach, Mo.; two daughters, Dana Schneider of Jonesboro, Ark., and Suzi Schneider-Anderson and husband, Jeff, of Maryville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Ashley, Quintin and Kuria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Anna Marie, Helen, Dorothy, and brother William.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, Camdenton, Mo., with funeral to follow at 11 a.m.
