A Richmond, Mo., man drowned near Party Cove Saturday at 8:10 p.m.

Todd Cornine, 33, was swimming in the area, went under and never resurfaced, according to the Missouri State Water Patrol report.

The body was recovered in 16 feet of water about 20 minutes later in the 4 mm of the Grand Glaize Arm. The victim was reported as not wearing a life jacket.

Capt. Matt Walz said it is too early at this point to tell if alcohol was involved and that Camden County has ordered an autopsy.

This is the first accidental drowning of the year, Walz said. A suicide earlier in the year was ruled as a drowning.
