On June 4, 2009, deputies of the Morgan County Sheriff's Office went to a residence off of Anchorage Road in rural Morgan County in response to an alligator possibly missing. Indications are that the alligator, which was being kept as a pet, was taken from the residence by person(s) unknown. However, since the exact location of the animal cannot be determined, the department feels it is prudent to alert the public.

The animal is approximately four to five feet in length and four to five years old.  It has reportedly been raised in captivity, and was part of a traveling show for some time.

Anchorage Road is East of Hwy. TT approximately two miles North of Gravois Mills.

In the event the animal is seen the public is urged not to approach it. Call the Morgan County Sheriff's Office at (573) 378-5481.
