Soaring heat resulted in high scores during the senior intercity match at Tan-Tar-A June 17. With the temperatures climbing to the upper 90s after a couple of heavy rains earlier in the week, the golfers were limited to keeping carts on the paths and got zapped by the heat and humidity.
"It was hot. I would rather had been playing at home with the cover on my cart and the heater on," Allen Kimberling of Indian Rock No. 2 said. "We would have made a half a point more if we hadn't have showed up. We got skunked."
Rick Wilson of Eldon shot low score for the second time in 2009 with a 2-over-par 73. Wilson, who was medalist at Indian Rock April 22, also cashed in with a pair of skins at TTA on holes eight and 15. Wilson hit his drive on No. 8 to within a few feet on the par-3, 151-yard hole.
Coming away tied for the lead with 224 points each were Indian Rock No. 1 and Redfield No. 1. Both squads have held the top spot at one time or another this season.
