Things didn't look good for the Camdenton girls in the first half against Eugene, but a big second half gave the Lady Lakers a win in their home opener on Monday, 50-43.

The Lady Eagles handled Camdenton's full-court press better than most, and held a lead as much as 14 against the Lakers in the second quarter, before going into the half up 30-18.

But the Lakers would answer in the third as they forced four turnovers and completely erased the 12-point lead, capped off with Morgan Larrington's free throw with no time remaining in the period.

With the game evened, Camdenton went back to work and slowly climbed to the 7-point lead they would hold for the final.

Junior Shelby Metzger scored a career-high 17 points to lead three Lakers in double figures. Haley Baker added 14 and Nickie Branting scored 11.

Eugene was led by a pair of freshmen. Kayla Adrian scored 13 and point guard Miranda White added 12.

Camdenton is now 6-3 on the season heading into the winter break.
