They fought, and clawed, and put everything they had on the court tonight, but it wasn't enough to take down Hillcrest.

Notoriously slow starters, the Lakers jumped out to a 7-2 lead behind the support of a lively crowd.

The teams fought back and forth, and the Hornets ending the first period with a 14-13 lead.

They stretched it to 6 at halftime and 10 after three quarters. But the Lakers stayed in the game, working to get back on top.

It wasn't to be, however, and Camdenton ended the regular season with a loss.

Kyle Simpson reached the 1,000-point plateau for his career in the game. He finished with a game-high 21 points.

Alex Fowler had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Chris Sullens added 9 points, all in the second quarter.

Hillcrest was led by Brock Shaffer with 21, while Dorial Green scored 16 and Derek Chaney added 12.

Camdenton will open postseason play on Monday when they take on Jefferson City at 7:30 in Lebanon.
