A local traveling club volleyball team is performing well this offseason.
The Lake of the Ozarks Volleyball Club, comprised of freshmen from Camdenton High School, competed at the "Ace of Hearts" Tournament in Branson the weekend of Feb. 26.
There, they beat out several other teams from south central Missouri to take home the championship. The team went 10-1 in pool play.
The big drama occurred during the championship game, which came down to the final set.
The Camdenton squad came up big in the clutch and won the decisive set by a nail-biting score of 15-13 to take home the title.
Team members include: Courtney Loge, Alana Lippert, Megan Weber, Allina Robie, Kennedy Calton, Madi Hayes, Morgan Haas, Abby Williams and Coach Brandi.
They play in the 16 and under division in the Heart of America Volleyball Organization.
The team also earned a second place finish at a tournament in Springfield on Jan. 23 and have two additional tournaments scheduled for March 13 in Sedalia and March 27 in Jefferson City.
The Lake of the Ozarks Volleyball Club also has a new nickname, "The Barracudas". They chose it after wanting to have a fun mascot name.
