The players of the Lake of the Ozarks Junior Golf Association teed it up Tuesday morning at Lebanon Country Club for their second tournament of the summer.
Camdenton’s Tyler Beauchamp summed up his first nine holes as being, “really bad, actually. I’m making some swing changes.”
Beauchamp will be part of Avila University’s first men’s golf team this fall. In preparation for college golf, Beauchamp is working to add power to his swing by being more conscious of his hand position. Beauchamp said he struggled to find a happy medium between hook and slice on the front nine.
Elsewhere in the boys 16-18 year-old division, Ben Salmon of Hermitage enjoyed his morning in Lebanon as he sought out fairways and greens.
“It’s pretty nice, it’s not hot. I’ve never played here before so I don’t know where to go on some of the holes,” Salmon joked.
Salmon sat at +2 at the turn and aims to improve his standing in the LOJGA’s top division.
“This is my first year playing (the league). I played last week (at Dogwood Hills in Osage Beach) and didn’t do so hot. Hopefully I get into the top five this week,” Salmon said.
Two-year LOJGA veteran Reid Swearingen of Sedalia filled out the group. For Swearingen, the summer schdedule represents his return to the links.
“It’s the first day back, first 18 holes I will play this year actually. For that fact, I am playing just fine. I’ll take whatever I can get. As long as I finish 18, I’ll take it,” Swearingen laughed.
The youth golf league’s next tour stop of 2010 will be Eldon Country Club on Monday, June 21.
