Ex-Camdenton setter Shelby Metzger broke into the college volleyball scene Labor Day weekend with a triple double that led Alverno College to a 3-2 win over Presentation College in the 2011 Alverno Classic.
Metzger logged 10 kills, 24 assists and 12 digs in the Inferno's win in Milwaukee. Metzger also has four serving aces.
Metzger played setter for coach Ann Gulshen's Camdenton teams that won back-to-back Ozark Conference titles and appeared in three consecutive district championships.
She earned all-district, all-conference and honorable mention all-state honors in high school.
In the college freshman's first match with the Alverno Inferno, Metzger finished one kill shy of a triple double in a 3-0 loss to University of Wisconsin-Superior. Metzger recorded 15 digs, 11 assists and nine kills.
