Camdenton High School senior Jessica Smith will be extending her volleyball career this fall at William Woods University in Fulton.
Smith has signed on to play for the Owls, who are located in Fulton, Mo.
William Woods coach Jennifer Mueller said Smith is a player that has a lot of volleyball knowledge.
“The biggest thing about her game is that she just knows how to get kills,” Mueller said. “She really impressed us with that when she was in here for workouts and tryouts. She’s a very aggressive player.”
William Woods plays in the American Midwest Conference and is a member of the NAIA. Smith played a large role for a Camdenton team that had one of the best seasons in school history, winning the Ozark Conference and making it to the district finals.
A former Camdenton High School volleyball player, Brianna Rodriguez along with current Lady Lakers coach Ann Gulshen helped persuade Mueller to look at Smith.
“They said (Smith) was a good athlete and a hard worker,” said Mueller, adding that Smith would likely be an outside hitter.
William Woods finished the 2009 season 29-7 overall, losing in the AMC tournament title game to Columbia College.
