Osage doubles teams qualifies for state and pair of Camdenton singles players fall in sectionals
Osage doubles team qualifies for state tournament
School of the Osage is going to state.
The doubles team of Elise Davis and Kylie Misenheimer were competing in a Class 1 sectional against Willow Springs Wednesday night and under less than ideal conditions, the duo decided to make quick work of the match against the Bears, winning in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).
“Elise and Kylie had many obstacles to face today with the cold and windy weather and fighting a cold,” Osage coach Danielle Lutz said of the win that took less than an hour. “Elise and Kylie are extremely excited to reach the top of their game to compete at the state level. Work ethic, team work and mental game are the key to their past and future success.”
Davis and Misenheimer will represent Osage in the state doubles tournament next weekend at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield. According to MSHSAA records, the Indian pair are the first doubles team to reach sectionals since 2009, let alone the state tournament. Now, they are just three wins away from bringing home a state championship to School of the Osage.
The doubles state tournament bracket was not yet available at the time of press. This story will be updated at lakenewsonline.com as soon as more information becomes available.
Camdenton bows out in singles sectionals
Camdenton was just one step away from state.
District champion Darby Roam and runner-up Macie Abell took Class 2 sectionals play in Springfield Wednesday night and both Lakers saw their seasons come to an end in a pair of tough two-set defeats.
Roam went up against Nixa’s Catherine Everett and fell in straight sets (1-6, 0-6) while Abell came up short in straight sets (0-6, 1-6).
The season has come to an end, but not before the Lakers finished the year 9-4 with a district champion and runner-up.
