The district tournament is just around the corner and Eldon decided to get in one final tournament in preparation for the postseason.

Eldon was on the links in Jefferson City on Wednesday for the Capital City Invitational where the Mustangs finished 14th out of the 15 teams who posted a team score. Players from schools that did not have golfers to qualify for a team score were placed on a team and Eldon finished with a 434 while St. Joe Academy took the top honors with a 308.

“It was a good tournament, but the exhaustion has started to wear on the girls,” Eldon coach Matt Frey said. “They still played well as a team. Some girls shot a good score while others were not as sharp. I feel it was good to get this out of their system with districts on Monday.”

There were a total of 85 golfers on hand and Eldon was led by Kassidy Hull who tied for 21st with an 18-hole round of 89. Emalee Bennett carded a 104 to tie for 47th, Gracie Petet posted a 112 to tie for 65th, Meladee Strickland added a 129 to tie for 77th and Reece Henderson shot a 132 to tie for 81st.

Eldon will be back on its home links at Eldon Country Club on Monday for the Class 1 District 3 Tournament. Tee time is scheduled for 9 a.m.
