Conference bragging rights were on the line Monday at Railwood Golf Course in Jefferson City.
Eldon, Osage and the rest of the Tri-County Conference gathered for 18 holes and by the time it was over, Southern Boone claimed the team title with a score of 410. Eldon finished second with a 437 and School of the Osage finished fifth with a 459 behind Blair Oaks (440) and Boonville (458).
Meanwhile, individual bragging rights belonged to Kassidy Hull of Eldon as the returning state qualifier carded a 76, beating every other golfer by at least 20 strokes. Emalee Bennett shot a 118 for the Mustangs while Gracie Petet turned in a 119, Meladee Strickland added a 124 and Reece Henderson finished her day at 137.
“The girls played great as a team and it was the first time most of them have played the course,” Eldon coach Matt Frey said. “Railwood is a tough course and requires you to hit lots of different shots to score well. As the tournament progressed, the girls were getting frustrated, but were able to buckle down and finish strong.
“I am super proud of the girls and look forward to districts at home on October 1.”
Osage was led by Sydney Riley who carded a 95 to earn All-Conference honors while Destiny Drake shot a 110 to do the same. Emily Maher turned in a 122, Maddie Yoder added a 132 and Chloe Dehner put up a 136.
Eldon and Osage were scheduled to meet again on Tuesday and the Mustangs will be in tournament action in Jefferson City on Wednesday at 9 a.m. Osage will host a quad on Thursday at 4 p.m.
