Riley earns medal with 5th place finish
Things are looking up for School of the Osage.
The Indians teed off in tournament play at California on Tuesday where they took on golfers representing 11 different schools with eight schools battling for team bragging rights. By the end, Osage produced a medalist in Sydney Riley who placed fifth individually and the team tied for third overall with Marshall while Blair Oaks took the tournament title and Boonville captured second.
“We had almost the same team playing today as compared to last year’s tournament and our team score improved by 35 strokes. This lets me and the girls know they are headed in the right direction,” Osage coach L.J. Weeks said.
As for Riley, the Osage golfer improved her own score by 27 strokes from last year’s tournament.
“She shot her best ever with a 93,” Weeks said. “She’s put in a lot of hard work and it is paying off.”
Emily Maher finished the 18-hole tournament with a 102, Maddie Yoder carded a 111, Destiny Drake shot a 113 and Chloe Dehner put up a 115.
Osage will be back at Eldon Golf Club Thursday night for a match at 4 p.m. Then, it is off to the Tri-County Conference Championship at Railwood Golf Course just outside Jefferson City on Monday.
