Laker boys capture 2nd place
Camdenton set out for the course at Lebanon on Monday and the trip yielded positive results.
Every girl medaled and six of the 10 boys between the varsity and junior varsity teams picked up medals as well. By the time it was all done, the boys also finished second as a team in a race that featured 11.
Garrett Mason led the boys with a time of 17:38 on the 3.1 mile course to capture fourth place while Jake Thoenen finished eighth at 18:11, Andrew DiBello 13th at 19:06, Gage Hauck 32nd at 20:16, Sam Gray 40th at 20:58, and Riley Head 49th at 21:29.
“The boys ran pretty well on a hilly course. I thought we had a good first half of the race, but we let the hills get to us a bit,” Camdenton coach David Weber said. “I still think we have some time to make some good improvements over the next few weeks.”
In the girls’ race, Skyler Sweezor led the way with an 11th place time of 22:59 and Cambrie Kowal turned in a time of 24:21 to finish 19th.
“The girls’ race was good all around. The girls all ran smart on the hilly course by not taking it out too fast and were able to finish pretty well,” Weber pointed out.
Up next for Camdenton is a trip to Fulton on Saturday at 10 a.m.
