Braden Bowman to represent the Pirates in the high jump
Macks Creek will have a representative at the Class 1 state track and field championships in Jefferson City this weekend.
Senior Braden Bowman, who narrowly missed out on a state bid a season ago in the 100-meter dash, would not be denied in his final year as a Pirate after qualifying for state in the high jump at a sectional at South Callaway on Saturday. Only the top four finishers of each event qualify for state and Bowman punched his ticket with a jump of five feet and 10 inches.
Other Pirates narrowly missed out on a trip to state as Madeline Phillips placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.54 and the 4x100 relay team of Phillips, Mackenzie Hicks, Shaylee Skinner and Alexia Mayer earned seventh with a time of 57.14 seconds.
