This summer, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA, www.fca.org) will host approximately 800 Camps in nearly every state across the country and in about 40 countries around the world. Locally, in the Lake region, FCA will reach coaches and athletes for a time of inspiration and perspiration.

The local sports and leadership camps are open to students entering grades 3-12. Listed below are the camps that will take place in the Lake area:

-Osage Beach EDGE leadership camp (May 29 and 30) at Osage High School

-Camdenton Power Camp (June 11-June 14, two sessions) at Camdenton Middle School

-Eldon Power Camp (June 18-June 21, two sessions) at Eldon Early Learning Center

-Warsaw Power Camp (July 9-July 12, two sessions) at John Boise Middle School

In 2017, FCA Camps experienced a record-breaking year, with more than 113,000 coaches and athletes participating in 780 Camps in 45 states and 41 countries.

“For more than six decades, FCA Camps have reached coaches, athletes, leaders and teams,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “Hundreds of thousands, from the youngest athletes to those playing at the professional level, were impacted or perhaps met Jesus for the first time at an FCA Camp. This summer, FCA Camps will again challenge those in attendance to grow in their sport and in their relationship with Christ. With a theme of ‘Strong,’ focusing on 2 Timothy 4:7, FCA Camps are life-changing and offer valuable lifelong lessons, both on and off the playing field.”

The 2018 Camps theme of “Strong” is based on the 2 Timothy verse that reads: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful” (NLT). The “Strong” theme focuses on the fact that believers serve a strong God, and His followers are called to be like Him in every area of their lives—including sports.

Said FCA Area Representative, Kathy Wiesen, “Sports and leadership camps are available to help students reach their potential in every aspect of their life.”

FCA Camps take the best attributes of an athletic-focused camp and a spiritual-focused camp and combines them into an athletic/spiritual experience like none other. FCA Camps also remove coaches and athletes from the routine of their sport, friends, co-workers and community, and places them into an exciting, healthy, athletic environment that allows them to pursue their passion for sport and clearly see and hear Christ’s passion for them.
