Girls finish first; boys take second

The track and field athletes of Versailles visited Linn on Thursday night in one of the first meets of the year and it was a night the Tigers could be pleased with.

The early returns in the hopes for a solid season boded well for the program as the girls finished first among 14 total schools while the boys captured second out of 15 teams respectively. The Versailles girls put up 126.5 team points and beat out second-place Fatima, which finished with 116. Meanwhile, the Versailles boys accumulated 100 points in the final standings, trailing only St. James with 124.

The Versailles girls will return to action Thursday night at Glendale for the Girls’ Night Out meet at 3:30 p.m. Next week, both teams will compete at the Laker Relays in Camdenton on April 10.
