Mustangs finish 2nd in quad with Helias, Blair Oaks and Iberia

Eldon opened up its 2018 campaign in a home quad with Helias, Blair Oaks and Iberia Tuesday night at Eldon Golf Club and the night went fairly well for the Mustangs who finished second with a team score of 193.

Eldon coach Matt Frey was pleased with what he saw amongst a field where Helias won the meet with a score of 153, Blair Oaks captured third at 209 and Iberia recorded a score of 214.

"Last night was a good test of golf. I was excited to see where the boys stood when playing some other schools," Frey stated. "I was happy with their finish last night. After talking with the team, the boys seemed excited and ready to go back to work and get better each day."

Aiden Wells and Austin Kostelnic led Eldon with a 9-hole round of 44 each while Cole Kliethermes recorded a 52 and both Breckon Blankenship and Nick Willingham turned in a score of 53.

Eldon will return to the links for another battle on its home course on Thursday at 4 p.m.
