The Camdenton girls’ swimming program is moving its way up the proverbial ladder.
The Lakers were in competition at the SWMO Meet in Springfield on Friday and Saturday and finished 14th overall, but third among the Ozark Conference with 113 points and trailing only Glendale (465) and Kickapoo (309). Meanwhile, Camdenton knocked off Joplin, Parkview, Hillcrest, West Plains and Lebanon. Not bad for a program in just its second year of existence.
The 200 Medley Relay team consisting of Adrena Normand, Erin Leezer, Emily Willis and Victoria Turner placed third in the conference with a time of 2:10.02. In the other relay events, the team of Victoria Watson, Irelyn Meckley, Turner and Willis also placed third in the 200 Free Relay at 1:56.02 and the team of Sasha Prather, Erin Leezer, Watson and Meckley finished sixth in the 400 Free Relay at 4:38.57. Last but not least, Willis earned fifth in the 100 Free (1:01.24) and sixth in the 200 Individual Medley (2:31.90).
Up next is the Last Chance Meet on Tuesday where the Lakers will look to punch in state qualifying times.
