Eldon drops tough contest to Southern Boone in Tri-County Tournament

Eldon was locked in a tough battle with Southern Boone on Saturday in the first round of the Tri-County Conference Tournament at Osage.

The game went right down to the wire, but the No. 5 seed Eagles managed to squeak by the No. 4 Mustangs in a 41-39 win.

"Overall, we played much better as a team. We stayed focused and mentally composed for most of the game," Eldon coach Ashley Agee said. "Our team defense looked better than it did before heading into Christmas break. We still are struggling from the free throw line which cost us the game on Saturday. We just have to keep making strides in the right direction and working hard in practice, and we will start to see success."

Macie Halderman knocked down 24 points to lead the Mustang offense.

Eldon (2-10) was scheduled to face No. 8 Versailles in the consolation semifinals Tuesday night.
