Versailles cruises by Stover in W-K Shootout
Versailles took on neighbor Stover in the W-K Shootout at State Fair Community College in Sedalia on Wednesday afternoon and the Tigers came away with an 89-61 win over the Bulldogs.
Coby Williams had a monster night offensively for the Tigers with a team-leading 30 points while Jonathon Geier and Wyatt Espinosa also reached double-digits scoring 27 points and 13 points respectively.
Versailles improved to 5-3 with the win and the Tigers will look to make some noise in the Tri-County Conference Tournament over the weekend where they will face Southern Boone in the first round on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. All games will take place at School of the Osage.
Eldon falls to Steelville
Eldon came up just a little bit short in a home contest against Steelville on Wednesday night as they fell to the visitors by a final score of 56 to 51.
"The second quarter killed us. We have to find a way to take out that one bad quarter every night and put a full game together," Eldon coach Brandon Kliethermes said. "When we do that, I feel like we can surprise some people."
Clayton Moore paced the Mustangs with a double-double performance recording 15 points and 11 rebounds. Logan Hall also knocked down 15 points while Devin Degraffenreid added 12 and Chase Fitzpatrick finished his night with seven points and 10 rebounds respectively.
Eldon (0-10) will look to get back on track in the Tri-County Conference Tournament at School of the Osage over the weekend. The Mustangs will face Hallsville in the first round at 1 p.m.
