Lakers go 7-2 in duals
It was a good day for the Camdenton girls' swim team.
The Lakers made a trip to Sedalia Smith-Cotton Thursday night for dual action and walked away winning seven of those nine duals to finish 7-2 with the two losses totaling up to a combined four points. Camdenton defeated Rock Bridge 133 to 128, Parkview 148-101, Marshall 155-60, Hickman 149-52, Battle 162-51, Smith-Cotton 145-128 and Springfield Catholic 160-48 while falling to Warrensburg 131-130 and Belton 138-135.
The day began with the 200 Medley Relay where the team of Adrena Normand, Erin Leezer, Emily Willis and Mara Heidelbach took third with a time of two minutes and 13 seconds. In the other relay events, the team of Heidelbach, Irelyn Meckley, Victoria Watson and Willis finished second in the 200 Free Relay at 1:58.43 while the team of Sasha Prather, Meckley, Leezer and Watson earned fourth in the 400 Free Relay at 4:47.39.
The individual events started off with the 200 Free where Prather finished sixth for the Lakers at 2:42.92. Tori Risner finished 13th at 3:00.17 and Reagen Faiferlick took 14th at 3:00.46.
In the 200 Individual Medley, Willis was the fastest Laker with a time of 2:32.79 while Normand earned fifth at 2:59.12 and Leezer came in 11th at 3:06.04.
The 50 Free featured 10 Camdenton swimmers and Watson was the fastest among them finishing ninth at 30.8 seconds. Meckley took 10th at 31.35 seconds, Aubree Enos 15th at 32.88, Katie Blackman 19th at 34.26, Jada Rowe 20th at 35.10, Amanda Ferguson 28th at 36.65, Chloe Price 33rd at 38.75, Diamond Galbreath 36th at 40.19, BriAnna Schultz 37th at 40.23 and Carmalita Leuenberger 44th at 45.83 seconds respectively.
Prather was the lone Laker in the pool for the 100 Fly where she took seventh with a time of 1:23.27.
The 100 Free saw seven Lakers dive in and Willis was the quickest taking second with a time of 1:01.25. Heidelbach came in third at 1:03.27, Meckley 10th at 1:10.34, Emme Thompson 16th at 1:15.28, Enos 18th at 1:16.08, Rowe 23rd at 1:20.98 and Blackman 24th at 1:21.19.
A pair of Camdenton swimmers took on the long distance race of the 500 Free and Risner came in 13th at 8:03.5 while Faiferlick was right behind her in 14th at 8:09.47.
In the 100 Backstroke, Normand earned fifth at 1:17.68. Last but not least, was the 100 Breaststroke that featured five Lakers. Heidelbach came in fourth at 1:22.16 while Leezer took sixth at 1:23.72, Watson 10th at 1:31.22, Ferguson 11th at 1:35.41 and Thompson 13th at 1:38.43.
Up next for Camdenton is the COMO Invitational on January 6.
