The season will go on for Versailles.
The Tigers faced Tipton in the first round of district play Monday night at Cole Camp and the Tigers dispatched the Cardinals in two sets by final scores of 25-13 and 25-20.
“We played a solid first set, but a lack of communication and unforced errors led to a tight second set,” Versailles coach Jessica Ollison said. “Tipton did a very nice job of keeping the ball in play, and against teams like that, we really have to focus on keeping our errors to a minimum.”
Bri Hendrix smacked down nine kills to lead the Tiger offense and Brooke Edgar added eight. Meanwhile, Taralee Edgar recorded 18 assists and both Gracie Hamrick and Brooke served two aces.
Defensively, Hendrix had two blocks to go with a team-leading 13 digs while Taralee put up nine digs and Brooke finished with seven to keep Tipton at bay.
Versailles improves to 13-13-4 on the season and will face Windsor (18-9-1) on Wednesday at Cole Camp in a district semifinal matchup. If the Tigers win, they will compete for a district championship immediately afterwards at 8 p.m.
