Camdenton outlasts Rolla in three-set battle
It took all three games to decide it, but Camdenton made sure its seniors came away with a win in a Senior Night victory over Rolla on Thursday.
The Bulldogs took the first set 25-23, but the Lakers came back with a 25-19 win in set two and a 25-21 set three win to finish it.
Camdenton junior Natalie Basham recorded 16 kills to lead the Laker offense while seniors Kylie Meier and Madison VanderPloeg both finished with six. Meanwhile senior Sara McDuffey served three aces and fellow senior Abbie Miller fueled the attack with 27 assists.
On the defensive end, Meier was strong at the net with five blocks and McDuffey had three respectively. Senior Grace Wormek put up 17 digs and VanderPloeg had 12 to slow down Rolla as well.
Camdenton (11-17-3) was scheduled to take on host Springfield Central in district play on Monday. If the Lakers advance, they will battle Willard in the district semifinals on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Eldon downs Hallsville in regular season finale
Eldon visited Hallsville Thursday night and the Mustangs made sure their final game of the regular season ended on a positive note as they defeated the Indians in two sets by final scores of 25-15 and 25-21.
Dakota Graham had no trouble getting above the net for Eldon as she led the Mustang attack with 10 kills while Grace Baucom finished her day with seven. Also fueling the attack was Leah Stichler who put up 11 assists and Baucom added six respectively.
Defensively, both Baucom and Addie Davis gave the Indians fits with three blocks each while Graham finished the night with nine digs and both Bailey Farris and Baucom put up six digs as well.
Eldon finishes the regular season 23-7-3 and was scheduled to visit Osage in first round district action Monday night. Should Eldon have advanced, the Mustangs will meet top-seeded Helias Catholic (21-2) in the district semifinals Tuesday night at 5 p.m.
Versailles falls to Blair Oaks
Versailles hosted Blair Oaks in the regular season finale and it was a tough one for the Tigers as they fell 25-5 and 25-14.
Isabella Edgar led the attack with three kills while Brooke Edgar added two and Taralee Edgar put up six assists.
Defensively, Brooke and Bri Hendrix had seven digs each to lead the Tigers while Taralee put up six and Carrie Hoffa added two blocks.
Versailles ends the regular season at 12-13-4 and the Tigers were scheduled to battle with Tipton in the first round of district play Monday night at Cole Camp. If the Tigers were victorious, they will play the winner of Windsor and Sherwood on Wednesday night at 6:45 p.m.
