Mustangs finish second at Eldon Volleyball Tournament

Another tournament title was just out of reach for Eldon on Saturday.

After winning the Fulton Tournament earlier this year, the Mustangs hosted their 35th Annual Eldon Volleyball Tournament where they played six games over the course of the day and reached the championship game against Tri-County Conference foe Blair Oaks. Eldon had taken the Falcons to three sets earlier in the season, but this time the Falcons were on top of their game as they won both sets by final scores of 25-18.

Grace Baucom and Dakota Graham paced the Mustang offense with nine kills each and Baucom added three aces. Anna Herbert was called upon to set and did her part to fuel the attack with 12 assists. Defensively, Bailey Farris kept Eldon in it with 10 digs while Graham finished with eight and both Baucom and Addie Davis put up seven.

Eldon (17-6-2, 3-3 Tri-County) was scheduled to visit El Dorado Springs on Monday and will return to the floor at the Versailles Tournament over the weekend.

Versailles drops three-set battle to Warsaw

Versailles went the distance with Warsaw Monday night. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the visiting Wildcats were the team left standing in a three-set battle. Versailles won the first game 25-14 and lost the next two sets 26-24 and 25-20.

Bri Hendrix led the Tiger attack with 15 kills while Brooke Edgar added nine kills to go with three aces. Taralee Edgar also fueled the attack with 23 assists. On the defensive end, Brooke had 17 digs while Taralee added 16 respectively.

Versailles falls to 10-10-2 on the year and 1-5 in the Tri-County Conference. Up next is the Versailles Tournament this weekend.
