Eldon boys take first place
The cross country teams of Eldon and Versailles were in action Thursday night on the course at Moberly.
The Mustang boys captured first place out of 12 schools with 78 team points and the girls finished third out of seven teams with 75 points respectively. Versailles did not have enough runners to qualify team scores.
Eldon’s John Markovitz led the Mustang pack with a ninth place finish out of 86 runners at 18:34. Caleb Cotten took 11th at 18:39, Aiden Gerber finished 22nd at 19:35, Austin Oberiether earned 24th at 19:39, Isaiah Simmons took 31st at 20 minutes, Nick Young came in 62nd at 21:36 and Gabriel Witt finished things up in 80th at 25:27.
Versailles’ Kendall Reger had the top time for the Tiger boys earning fifth at 17:57, Cylan Burns took 26th at 19:41, Ricky Zago came in 50th at 21:04 and Trent Hyman posted a time of 21:51 to finish 64th.
The Eldon girls were paced by Faith Parrent who finished fifth out of a field of 65 runners at 20:55. Nicole Reynolds took eighth at 21:35, Kelsey Wallis finished 17th at 22:35, Alysa Neighbors came in 28th at 23:36, Madison McGinnis took 36th at 25:26, Sara Bumgartner earned 49th at 27:11 and Felicity Blankenship rounded things up in 59th at 28:39.
Versailles did not have a runner in the girls’ race.
Up next for the Tigers is a trip to Stover on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Mustangs were scheduled to be in Jefferson City on Saturday and will visit Russellville this Saturday at 9 a.m.
