Versailles visited California for a Tri-County Conference battle Tuesday night and the Tigers walked away with a two-set defeat by final scores of 25-14 and 25-21.
The Tigers did not pick up any aces and made eight errors behind the line, but Versailles coach Jessica Ollison said the Pintos certainly did not make things easy.
“The girls gave a much better defensive effort in the second set and I was proud of the fight I saw on the court,” she stated. “Hats off to California. We just could not get the ball down on them and their defense allowed their setter to utilize their offense well.”
Bri Hendrix posted eight kills to lead the Versailles offense while Isabella Edgar and Brooke Edgar both finished with three each. Also fueling the attack was Taralee’s 14 assists. Defensively, Carrie Hoffa recorded two blocks while Hope Heimsoth finished the night with 11 digs and Brooke added 10.
The Tigers fall to 10-10-2 and 1-4 in conference play. They will return to the court on Monday to host Warsaw at 5:30 p.m. The team is planning to host a canned food drive in lieu of admission.
