Osage cruises past Russellville

Osage has been on a roll.

After winning a 3-set battle at Buffalo Monday night, the Indians left little doubt with a 2-set win against Russellville Tuesday night by final scores of 25-6 and 26-10. The win is the seventh in a row for Osage, which has not lost since the conference opener against Blair Oaks on August 24.

Carson Wood led the charge against Buffalo with 12 kills while Maddie Henley put up five and Wood led the attack again Tuesday night with six kills while Sarah Butler recorded four.

Osage (9-1, 1-1 Tri-County Conference) will seek to keep the winning streak alive when Fulton comes to town Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.

Versailles comes up short in battle with Southern Boone

It took three sets to decide it when Versailles and Southern Boone met on the volleyball court Tuesday night.

Unfortunately for the host Tigers, the Eagles walked away the winners by winning the last two sets 25-22 and 25-16.

Versailles got off to a good start taking the first set 25-22, but Coach Jessica Ollison said it all went downhill from there.

“Southern Boone played very good defense and we began trying to do too much at the net to put the ball down,” Ollison noted. “Attack errors and service errors gave them the advantage in the third set.”

Bri Hendrix paced the Tigers with eight kills while Brooke Edgar added seven of her own to go with a team-leading nine assists. Edgar also added four blocks and 10 digs to keep the Tigers fighting while Hendrix put up 13 digs and Hope Heimsoth finished the night with 12. Heimsoth also generated a few quick points with three aces.

Versailles (7-5, 1-2 Tri-County Conference) will look to claim Highway 52 bragging rights when Eldon comes to town Thursday night at 6 p.m.
