Macks Creek traveled to Weaubleau on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Weaubleau Tournament. Here are the game recaps:
Game One - Wheatland 8, Macks Creek 7 (Friday night)
Macks Creek and Wheatland squared off for the second time in five days and again saw Wheatland get the win. This time, however, it was much closer.
It was a back and forth affair. The two sides were tied up at 2 after the first inning and exchanged the lead twice with Macks Creek taking a 5-4 lead in the fifth before Wheatland answered back with two runs of their own in the fifth to make it 6-5. Then, the Lady Mules took an 8-5 lead into the seventh and held on to win it with the Lady Pirates knocking on the door.
Trailing 8-5, Macks Creek’s Mylee Hicks picked up her third hit of the night with a single and moved to second when the center fielder misplayed the ball. Lexi Mayer then singled to move Hicks to third and Mayer was able to steal second. Kali Eidson would single in Hicks and Mayer would move to third. Caytlin Eidson would hit into a fielder's choice that saw pinch runner Alyssa Seaholm forced out at second, but Mayer was able to score to cut the lead to 8-7. Jesse Willis then hit a sinking line drive to center field that was caught on a dive by the fielder to end the game.
Shaylee Skinner started and took the loss with her six innings pitched. She allowed eight runs, five earned, on 10 hits while striking out four, walking two, and hitting one batter. She falls to 3-3.
Hicks paced the Lady Pirate offense with three hits and an RBI, Caytlin Eidson had a single and three RBIs, Mayer singled twice, Kali had two hits and two RBIs and Shelby Willis, Hannah Roofener, and Skinner each singled while Jesse Willis and Madelie Phillips doubled.
