It came down to a single run when Camde and Kickapoo met in Ozark Conference action Wednesday night.
Unfortunately for the Lakers, the run did not belong to them in a 3-2 defeat on the road.
Camdenton got off to a great start plating two runs in the first inning, but the Chiefs settled down and played shutout defense the rest of the way as Kickapoo’s pitcher recorded eight strikeouts in a complete-game performance. The Kickapoo offense came around, tying the game in the fourth inning and putting up the game-winning run in the fifth.
Camdenton hurler Haile Farris pitched all six innings for the Lakers in the loss, putting up five strikeouts of her own. Offensively, Shelby Webster and Fayth Rakes led the bats with two hits each and Farris recorded an RBI.
Camdenton falls to 8-3 with the loss and 2-2 in the Ozark Conference. The Lakers will look to win their second straight tournament this weekend at the Capital City Invitational in Jefferson City.
