Macks Creek knocks off Fair Play

The Macks Creek Lady Pirates rebounded from their loss on Monday with a win on Tuesday over the Fair Play Lady Hornets, 14-7.

After Fair Play picked up two runs in the first, Macks Creek went quietly in their half of the first and held the Lady Hornets in the top of the second. In the bottom of the inning the Lady Pirates plated five runs. Macks Creek added another run in the third and Fair Play tied it in the fourth to make it 6-6. Then, Macks Creek busted the game wide open with eight runs that saw 13 total hitters come to the plate.

"We rebounded well from last's night game and picked up a win tonight," Macks Creek coach Jason Trusty said.

Shaylee Skinner moved to 2-0 in the circle with her complete game effort for the Lady Pirates. She allowed seven runs, only four earned, on eight hits while striking out four hitters and walking three.

Offensively Macks Creek was paced by Shelby Willis. She went three-for-five at the plate which included two singles, a double, three RBIs, and one run scored. Mylee Hicks went two-for-four. She walked, singled twice, walked once, scored a run, and had two RBIs. Madeline Phillips singled and scored two runs, Caytlin Eidson singled in a run and scored, Lexi Mayer doubled and scored twice, Jesse Willis singled, scored two runs, and had an RBI, and Kenzie Hicks collected her first career varsity hit, reached on a hit-by-pitch, and scored three runs. Kali Eidson walked once, beaned once, reached on an error and a fielder's choice, and scored two runs. Skinner walked three times in the contest for the Lady Pirates.

Macks Creek improves to 2-1 with the win. They are off the rest of the week before hosting Crocker on Monday, Versailles Tuesday and Springfield Central on Thursday. Game times are scheduled for 5 p.m.

Camdenton drops contest at Hillcrest

Camdenton visited Ozark Conference foe Hillcrest Tuesday night and came home with a 6-0 defeat.

After starting off the season as the Sullivan Tournament champions, the Lakers (5-1) will look to rebound Thursday night against Glendale in the home opener. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
