Camdenton took on the Ozark Conference Tuesday night at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield and came home with a sixth place finish.
Camdenton was seeded sixth out of 10 total teams before the tournament began and that is exactly where the Lakers finished as they lost 5-4 to No. 3 Waynesville in the first round, defeated No. 7 Lebanon 5-2 in the second round and finished up with a 5-4 loss to No. 4 Rolla. Top-seeded Kickapoo took the conference title.
Camdenton’s No. 1 position player Grant Burton improved to 14-2 in singles play after going unbeaten Tuesday night and the senior earned an All-Conference selection. Camdenton coach Kirk Richey liked what he saw from some of his other players as well.
“Senior Alec Grogan and sophomore Noah Morgan stepped up into the lower part of the varsity lineup for the first time this season and competed very well for us in this tournament,” Richey stated.
The Lakers (7-12) have concluded the regular season and will take on Lebanon in the first round of districts on Monday at Springfield Central. First serves are scheduled for 4 p.m.
