It took an extra inning to decide the winner between Versailles and Warsaw Thursday night.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, it was the Wildcats who emerged on top and defended their home diamond with a 3-2 win in eight innings of play.

Versailles struck quickly with a single tally after the first inning and maintained that advantage until Warsaw tied the game with a single run in the third. The Wildcats took the lead with another run late in the sixth and the the Tigers immediately responded with a run as their backs were against the wall in the seventh.

Bryce Kephart provided a hot bat for Versailles as he racked up three hits on the day. David Connor added two hits while Wyatt Espinosa, Taylor Dobbins, Kaden McGinnis and Brayden Morrison each collected a hit to give the Tigers a total of nine on the night. Morrison's bat also brought in both runs for Versailles.

Starting pitcher Brett Clemens took the loss for the Tigers as he threw seven innings and allowed three runs on seven hits while walking seven batters and striking out two.

The win puts Versailles at 3-8 on the year and the Tigers were scheduled to host California on Friday night at 5 p.m. Up next is a home game against Highway 52 neighbor Eldon on Monday at the same time.
