Eldon wins home quad

The Eldon boys’ golf team can add another win to their season total after coming out on top against Eugene, Sacred Heart and Warsaw Tuesday night at Eldon Golf Club.

The Mustangs won the event with a team score of 177 while Eugene was the closest threat with a score of 202.

“The boys are continuing to play well. We are close to the midpoint of the season and I’m excited to see what they accomplish with conference play and district play ahead,” Eldon coach Matt Frey stated.

Spencer Rogers earned the title of match medalist with a 9-hole round of 38, Austyn Grisham finished the day at 42, Christian Potucek shot a 48, Austin Kostelnik finished the day at 49 and Cole Kliethermes rounded things up with a score of 56.

Eldon was scheduled to visit Eugene on Wednesday afternoon and up next for the Mustangs is a tournament at Sacred Heart on Monday.

Osage and Versailles tee off at Southern Boone Golf Classic

School of the Osage and Versailles were in tournament action with 13 other teams at the Southern Boone Golf Classic on Wednesday afternoon.

At the end of the day, the Indians finished third behind Hermann's 339 and Blair Oaks' 353 with a team score of 357 while the Tigers did not have enough golfers to register a team score. 

The Indians came into Wednesday's tournament with some momentum after knocking off New Bloomfield and Russellville the night before in a tri-meet at Osage National and all five golfers finished in the top half of field featuring 72 total golfers. Jacob Krantz led the way finishing fifth for the Indians with a round of 84, Chancer Foster shot an 89, Nick Riley finished with 91, Connor Thomas ended his day at 93 and C.J. Myers rounded things up with a 102. 

Meanwhile, Versailles' Payton Cable had the highest finish for the Tigers as he took 18th with a score of 91. Garrett Boatright finished his day at 99 and Ori Bartlett put together a round of 100.

Osage will be back on their home course Thursday afternoon to take on Fulton at 4 p.m. Versailles will also be home for a quad meet on Thursday starting at the same time.
