Hadn’t given it any thought - until now
I had heard about a suspected swine flu case in Missouri - but wasn’t aware that it was around this area.
I really hadn’t given this any thought until it was brought to my attention through this question. So, obviously, I’m not really concerned about this particular case.
But if the question is expanded to discuss pandemic — which is what this case implies — the answer is YES.
A pandemic can spread quickly through innocent daily interactions. By the time a pandemic is discovered, it is possible that ANYBODY could be infected. So I am concerned about pandemics, which I hope is not the case in our home state at this time.
If more information comes in that would change this opinon of safety now, I’d make sure to wash my hands more frequently and be more concerned of routine flu symtoms.
No Big Deal. Nada Now.

Swift action kept threat limited
The flu outbreak at Camp Sabra was a serious potential hazard to our community. Thankfully, the alert supervisors and health personnel at the camp took swift action to aid the affected campers and isolate the problem.
Unless we soon hear of related cases I think we should identify, applaud and reward those who were instrumental in stopping this health threat to our community.

There are more pressing concerns
I am not concerned about the outbreak of the swine flu, period. The H1N1 from what I’m reading isn’t any more deadly than other “normal” flu outbreaks.
But, I have never been one to run around proclaiming the sky is falling just because I’ve been told I should. The camp mentioned on the lake, has taken several steps to contain their outbreak and should be commended for their quick action.
There are a lot more pressing health issues to concern yourself with, like how are you going to pay for your free government health care?

More concerned about over-reaction
I am not overly concerned about the flu outbreak.
There are proper protocols that can be taken to ensure one’s health and safety.
I am more concerned over people rushing out and buying drugs for it, and like every other event, can cause more harm than good by doing so.
Proper hand washing, eating properly, plenty of rest, and most of all if you do get sick stay home and don’t spread it around.
If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive and come down with symptoms, contact the proper health officials.

Won’t lose sleep over the news
This outbreak of of the H1-N1 flu is newsworthy, but I am not going to lose any sleep over it.
By all accounts, there have been only two campers with confirmed cases. All of the others are suffering from flu-like symptoms.
The staff at Camp Sabra has closed the camp for a week to completely disinfect and clean the camp the camp before allowing any more campers in.
They are doing everything to prevent any further exposures to the next group of campers. I can’t live my life in fear of the unknown. I walk by faith and not by sight.
