The issue Aquapalooza drew hundreds of boats to a single location.

What we think Dogs Days may be the perfect spot.

The sponsors bill it as a celebration of boating and a family entertainment event on and in the water.

Aquapalooza left its first appearance last summer amid a storm of controversy and complaint.
Docks were damaged by heavy wave action caused by a large number of boats congregated in a residential/commercial cove.

MarineMax and Sea Ray sought to move the party to a new location, but were met with an echo of complaints from residents in Chimney Cove who didn’t want that many boats in their neighborhood either.

Up stepped Mark Barrett, owner of Dog Days, with a proposal.

Together with the sponsors and the Missouri State Water Patrol, Aquapalooza moved to a new location at one of the lake’s top waterfront establishments near the Grand Glaize Bridge.

Saturday’s event drew a large turnout, and early accounts indicate a very favorable report.
Despite the heavy concentration of boats moored in the area, the Water Patrol reported very few problems and none with navigational hazards.

This is good news.

A big event drew hundreds of boaters to a single location without a hailstorm of controversy or residents’ fear of Party Cove leaving Anderson Hollow and showing up their cove.

This is an excellent example of the Missouri State Water Patrol working with commercial interests and neighbors and coming up with a workable solution for all concerned.

We suspect Aquapalooza may have found a permanent home at Dog Days, which further cemented its appeal among boaters as a place to go.

Here’s to a good time and job well done.
