Sunrise Beach may have a voice but the voice of the county and the voice of Sunrise Beach and those who pay taxes and vote had best be the voice that prevails.
There are only two entities or people who want to expand the Magruder quarry, one is Magruder and the other is the land owner who has property that is currently worthless because it is situated next to the current quarry. Who would want to build on it and who would want to own it other than Magruder for gravel and stone products?
And in a way, let’s say through some idiotic acceptance, that Magruder can expand; what will be the next property to bite the dust or become of no value other than to Magruder? What will be the perfume on the next pig to make sense of getting more quarry land?
With that said, it seems every few years there is different perfume put on the same pig, I can remember Magruder wanting to move asphalt production back to the quarry because of Highway 5 resurfacing, and other attempts to expand the quarry, but once again, although the goal is for Magruder coming up with new perfume to expand operations, it is still the same pig!
We, as citizens of this county should have the largest voice on this, regardless of where this quarry or any other wishes to expand in Camden County. Sunrise Beach may have a voice but the voice of the county and the voice of Sunrise Beach and those who pay taxes and vote had best be the voice that prevails.
My voice is NO expansion of the quarry in any direction at any time no matter the type of perfume!
