Many will simply die from lack of treatment. Others will be thrown into bankruptcy trying to saving their lives or the life of a child. These are our fellow citizens.

My name is Judi Sharp and I have been a resident in Lake Ozark for six years now.  I saw today that the impact of the proposed healthcare bill presently before the Senate will double the number of uninsured in Missouri.

We already have 300,000 of our fellow citizens who cannot obtain healthcare coverage for themselves.  This will only make matters worse. More will require emergency care (and raise healthcare costs and thus coverage costs for everyone) for conditions that could have been treated had they access to regular, preventive care.

Many will simply die from lack of treatment. Others will be thrown into bankruptcy trying to saving their lives or the life of a child. These are our fellow citizens. In addition, many of our few rural hospitals and medical centers will be forced to close due to lack of funding, affecting those who do have coverage and increasing the number of unemployed in Missouri.

The Affordable Care Act can be easily repaired to continue to cover millions in this country if Congress will only begin to work in a bipartisan manner and agree on some simple solutions. There is no need for our state and our country to continue to let our fellow citizens languish and die. And how can it possibly be a sensible solution to provide tax breaks to the already wealthy, increased profits for insurance providers and more compensation to insurance executives rather than provide healthcare coverage to our citizens?

Please call our senators and plead with them to defeat this bad legislation.
