Sadly, what it takes to get this government to action, takes a Water Patrol officer drowning a citizen from Iowa, before anybody pays any attention to fixing what is broke!
I have been quiet for a while but here goes.
The legislative power shall be vested in a Senate and the House of Representatives to be styled "The General Assembly of the State of Missouri."
House of Representatives -- One hundred sixty-three elected members (163)
Senators -- Thirty-four elected members (34)
Attorney General – One elected (1) You would think to make sure all laws are obeyed but, here is how the AG has aligned his duties — the attorney general has organized his office into eight divisions: Litigation, Consumer Protection, Governmental Affairs, Environmental Protection, Criminal Appeals, Governmental and Financial Entities, Labor, and Public Safety. (NO SUNSHINE LAW MENTIONED HERE!!!)
Auditor – One elected to audit stuff (1) The State Auditor's Office is Missouri's independent “WATCHDOG” agency. Article IV, Section 13 of the Missouri Constitution describes the duties and responsibilities of the State Auditor. The State Auditor’s Office works to ensure the proper use of public funds and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Missouri government by performing audits of state agencies, boards and commissions, the circuit court system, the counties in Missouri that do not have a county auditor, and other political subdivisions upon petition by the voters. (THE AUDITOR WAS VERY CLEAR IN THE MESSAGE THAT ONLY 30% OF THE STATE COMPLIES WITH THE CURRENT SUNSHINE LAW)
Governor – One elected to steer all the others and sign laws (1) I could go on with a full page on the governor but to the point — “The governor addresses the General Assembly on the state of government and recommends changes or other actions to be taken.” (NOTHING ON THE CURRENT AGENDA ABOUT SUNSHINE LAWS! AND BY THE WAY, NOTHING ON THE AGENDA ABOUT IMPROVING LAWS ON THE WATER CONCERNING WAKE DAMAGE OR RECKLESS BOATING!)
Sooooo, to put it bluntly, there are some in the state that don’t like the current Sunshine Law or its enforcement by the AG, and there are a bunch of citizens around the lake that are concerned with wake damage and how the Water Patrol division of the Highway Patrol deals with enforcement.
And on the Sunshine law, everyone in state government has the audit report that only 30% fulfill the law properly.
My goodness, what does it take for the legislature, the governor or the AG to not understand here?
Let’s think about this! Sadly, what it takes to get this government to action, takes a Water Patrol officer drowning a citizen from Iowa, before anybody pays any attention to fixing what is broke!
Basically, no one in government cares until it is highlighted in the press that THEY DON’T CARE TO MAKE SURE THINGS ARE RUNNING RIGHT UNLESS THERE IS A TRAGEDY!
That is the mentality of our State government!
As long as these elected officials can hide in plain sight folks, “Ya got what ya got!”
They all can tell ya they feel your pain, and they are doing something, but, it will take something serious happening again before they get the point!
That is our Missouri State Government in a nutshell folks!
Do you like it?
