97, Army Air Corp pilot during World War II, loved fishing


James Edward Bradbury, son of Frank and Ruth Hull Bradbury, was born, Saturday, Feb. 17, 1912, in Parksburg, W.V. 
He departed this life, Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Mo., at the age of 97 years, 4 months and 9 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Vera.
Survivors include his children, James Bradbury Jr. of Monroe, La., Jan Pulliam and husband Jerry and Julie Griffin and husband Chuck all of Des Moines, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends.
James was raised in Sharon, Penn., and attended school there. He attended college at Louisiana State University. He served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II as a pilot. 
After being honorably discharged with the rank of Captain, he moved to Louisiana and became a truck driver.  Being based out of St. Louis for his driving career, upon retirement he moved to the lake area.  He was a member of the American Legion and the Teamsters Union.
James made a profession of faith in Christ and at the time of his death was a member of Walk on the Water Faith Church.
In his spare time he loved to fish and record classic movies, one of his favorites being “The Duke” John Wayne.
James was a loving dad, grandpa and was a caring neighbor and friend. 
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2009, in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow in Dale Blair Cemetery in Camdenton, Mo. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and left at the funeral home.
