95, active community leader and participant her entire life
Helen Weigle Danuser was born May 1, 1914 in Appleton, Wisc., and died on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, after a brief illness.
Helen was the daughter of Dr. Otis Melvin and Grace Barker Weigle. The family moved to Fulton, Mo., in 1915, and Helen has resided there until her death.
On June 12, 1938, she married Kasper Alfred Danuser.
Five children were born to this union: Marcia Star and her husband William J. Singman of Oakland, Calif., Karl Blake and his wife, Carol Blair Danuser of Columbia, Mo., Robin Sue and her husband Walter F. Trapp of Montgomery, Texas, David Kent and his wife Barbara Blackburn Danuser of Columbia, Mo., and Douglas Craig and his wife Debbie Storeholder Danuser of Winston-Salem, N.C.
In addition to four of her children, Helen is survived by nine beloved grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; by her sister, Fran Weigle Westfall, a niece Felicia Matthews, and two nephews, John Danuser and Jerry Danuser.
She was preceded in death by her husband and by her daughter Marcia.
Helen was a member of the Fulton United Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Fulton High School and William Woods College.
She was an active community leader and participant for her entire life.
Her areas of endeavor included the Winston Churchill Memorial on the Westminster campus. She was selected as a Churchill Fellow in recognition of this work.
She was also a supporter of the Daniel Boone Regional Library and the Callaway Historical Society. She enjoyed membership in many organizations including PEO, Needle Guild, Women’s Club and the Board of Associates of Fulton Colleges. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.
Services will be held at the Westminster Church of St. Mary Aldermanbery in Fulton on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009. Visitation will begin 1 p.m. until the service at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Winston Churchill Memorial, the Callaway Historical Society, or the Central Missouri Food Bank c/o Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court St., PO Box 818, Fulton, MO 65251.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Debo Funeral Home in Fulton.
