Norma Ruth Vergenz, 88, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at the Kansas City Hospice House.
She was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Flat River, Mo., the daughter of the late Carl Gustave and Myrtle Stotler McGeorge.
On March 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Ralph George Vergenz, who preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1991.
Norma was the supervisor of Obstetrical Nursing at Research Hospital in Kansas City for several years.
She was a member of the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie, and the Indian Heights United Methodist Church in Overland Park. She was also a member of the Versailles O.E.S. Chapter 410.
She is survived by her daughter, GeorgeAnn Doleshal and husband John of Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren, Stephenie Moreland and husband Robert of Overland Park, Derrin Skorupan of Overland Park, Angela Muder and husband Nick of Kansas City, Kan., and Rebecca Hicks and husband Kent of Houston, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jennie Louise Smith of St. Charles, Mo., and Myrtle Marie Farmer of Bourbon, Mo.; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl William McGeorge and Aaron Thomas McGeorge, and two sisters, Grace Eilene Hakes and Muriel June Marler.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. A private family interment will follow in the Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery in Laurie.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
